Residents for Community Preservation

Foresight, Hindsight, & Our Community at Risk.

Informed decision making takes time, patience, and finding reliable research to consider all aspects of an issue before a decision can be made. It requires consulting with experts across a multitude of areas of expertise.

Why is this process important, and what does it have to do with us?

The decision as to whether or not to rezone residential farmland to heavy industrial land comes with a host of consequences that warrant serious consideration and forethought.

Careful research and a clear understanding of what a move like this would bring to our community and its residents is not only necessary, but paramount. Analysis of environmental impacts, air emissions, water contamination, traffic, road conditions, fire/hazard preparedness, cost-benefit, effects on property values, regulation of industry, enforcement capabilities, and industry specific concerns are all things that cannot be overlooked.

Shortcuts or shortsightedness will undoubtedly bring irreparable harm for people, environment, animals, water, and the larger community.

While we remain committed to raising awareness in the community, our attention has also turned toward finding experts and doing research that will help inform both the township and the residents about these important issues. In the spirit of transparency, we’re excited to share with you our research thus far, and will continue to do so as we dig deeper into these issues. Residents living right here in our community have stepped up with their time and knowledge to help out in areas including:

Environmental Consultation

Asphalt Industry

Toxicology

Epidemiology

Environmental Law

Fire Suppression Engineering

Health & Safety Regulation

Legal Guidance

  • One area in which we are lacking is traffic engineering. Please contact us if you have a contact with this area of expertise.

Doing this work, and sharing it with our Township Officials in a collegial way, enables us all to be informed. Our community finds itself in a situation in which foresight is far more critical than hindsight, if we are to make decisions without causing undue harm.

Thank you in advance for reading each of the following three documents. They were given to the Township on 04/15/21.
