Things are progressing…

On behalf of Tyrone Township, a planning consulting firm by the name of Carlisle Wortman, has been reviewing the application that proposed the rezoning of 124 acres of farmland to heavy industrial property, with subsequent plans to build an asphalt plant on the 30 acres of that property. Their report on the matter has been completed. The report includes 2 Zoning requests and 1 Special Land Use request. On March 31, 2021, the township updated their website to include those reports. Below is a direct copy from Tyrone Township’s website:

“The township's planning consultant Carlisle-Wortman Associates has reviewed the company's rezoning and special land use and has submitted their reports:

          • Review of Parcel 4704-17-200-001 rezoning request.
          • Review of Parcel 4704-17-400-007 rezoning request.
          • Review of Asphalt Plant Special Land Use request.

The next step will be a Planning Commission meeting to provide requirements to the applicant and a public hearing.”

While this certainly feels like a positive step forward, we must remain vigilant as many twists and turns can still come forth. The applicant can redesign their application, and the board has not yet voted. This is one small piece of a much larger, and very complex process. The most important thing we can do is to be prepared for all possible avenues forward. Our attorney continues to adjust our strategic plan according to these developments as they come.
